Though few candidates are able to crack this UPSS exam every year. How to Crack IAS Exam
If you don't know, UPSC conducts the IAS exam in three stages or levels. Therefore, you have to apply for the UPSC exam and start for preparation for the IAS Exam as per the syllabus i shared below. These are the following stages in an IAS exam.
1. Preliminary Exam(Prelims)
2. Mains Exam
3. Interview
IAS Exam Overview
IAS exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission every year. IAS exam is also called Civil Exam. IAS exam can be given in both languages (Hindi or English). If we talk about its pay scale, for a cabinet sectary post, your salary will be Rs. 56100 to 250000/-. You will be given 2 hours for each paper and your interview will be 45 minutes in duration. You have to be graduated from the Recognized University or College in India. If you are an Indian, Bhutan, or Nepal citizen, can apply for the IAS exam.

All candidates should be graduated in any stream from a recognized college or university to be eligible to appear in this exam.
IAS Exam Age Limit
If you are from the general category, your ages should be between 21 and 32 years. and you can attempt this exam six times. For the OBC category, candidates' age should be between 21 years and 35 years, can attempt an IAS Exam nine times. For SC/ST candidates, the age should be between 21 years and 37 years and there will be no time limit i.e., can attempt this exam as many times. If you come in the physically disabled category, the age should be between 21 years and 42 years. Attempts will be as per the category as in there will be special treatment for physically disabled candidates.
How to Begin Preparation for IAS Exam after passing 12th Class
- First of all you have to take admission in ug courses like History and Politics. Because, in an IAS exam, most of the question is asked about History and Politics.
- While you prepare or plan of Graduation and keep the UPSC IAS syllabus in mind.
- You have to make a habit of reading the newspaper daily which can you help in the current affairs section.
- You should also reading the books related to public administration and economics each day.
- Prepare timetable, make notes from all relevant books and highlight the important points.
- Before a month the exam, you should start solving the previous year IAS exam question papers and mock tests. Therefore you will get the idea, of what types of questions will be asked and how to manage time in the exam and give enough time to each question.
- Sit in a quiet place to study to prepare well and keep all the distractions away.
- Once candidates passed the IAS exam and clear all stages. The candidates will be sent for the 21st month of IAS training. If candidates successfully complete the IAS training then the candidate will be able to become an IAS officer.
